Warranty & Product Guarantee Policy

Warranty & Product Guarantee Policy

Quality we stand behind, explained in full.

This page sets out exactly how Selenalondon handles manufacturing defects in sandals, dresses, footwear and three-piece linen sets — what our warranty covers, how long it lasts, how it works alongside our 30-day returns window, and how your UK statutory rights continue to protect you long after both.

Our warranty promise

Every order is backed by a written commitment, not just a returns window.

Selenalondon sells sandals, dresses, footwear and three-piece linen sets sourced through carefully selected production and fulfilment partners. Before any style is listed, we set an internal quality standard for the materials, stitching and construction we expect it to meet. This Warranty & Product Guarantee Policy is our commitment that, if an item fails to meet that standard because of a genuine manufacturing defect, we will put it right through repair, replacement or refund — at no cost to you.

This warranty is separate from, and additional to, our 30-day Refund & Return Policy. It is also separate from, and does not limit, your statutory rights as a consumer under the laws of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Where any part of this policy could be read as reducing those rights, your statutory rights take priority.

We have written this policy specifically for our own catalogue and business model — it is not a generic template. If anything here is unclear, contact us at contact@selenalondon.com or call +33 7 54 00 67 18 and we will explain it in plain terms.

Definitions

What we mean by a "manufacturing defect".

A manufacturing defect is a fault that was already present in an item's materials or workmanship at the point it left our fulfilment partner, even if it only becomes visible after you have started wearing or using the item. We assess this by looking at how and when the fault appears, not simply whether the item is now damaged.

Covered as a defect

  • Stitching that unravels or seams that split under normal wear.
  • Sole separation or delamination on sandals and footwear.
  • Buckles, clasps or zips that fail through faulty assembly rather than force.
  • Fabric flaws present from new, such as weave faults or dye that was defective at the point of sale.
  • Hardware (rivets, eyelets, snap fasteners) that detaches under ordinary use.

Not covered as a defect

  • Normal wear and tear, including worn soles, faded colour or softened footbeds after extended use.
  • Damage from misuse, accidents, spills, incorrect washing or ignoring the printed care label.
  • Alterations, repairs or cleaning carried out by anyone other than Selenalondon.
  • Sizing or fit preference, or a change of mind about colour or style.
  • Minor, expected variation in colour, grain or weave between photographs and the item received.
How three timelines fit together

30-day returns, our warranty, and your statutory rights are not the same thing.

Customers sometimes assume a "return period" and a "warranty" are the same protection with two different names. They are not, and keeping them separate is what makes this page precise rather than vague. Here is exactly which one applies, and when.

Days 1–30: our Refund & Return Policy

You may return most unused items within 30 days of delivery for any reason, including a simple change of mind — this does not require a defect. Full conditions are in our Refund & Return Policy. This window also covers your UK statutory short-term right to reject faulty goods for a full refund.

Beyond day 30, within the warranty period

Once the 30-day return window closes, this Warranty & Product Guarantee Policy takes over for genuine manufacturing defects only — 12 months for sandals and footwear, 6 months for dresses and linen sets. It does not cover a change of mind.

Beyond the warranty period

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 continue for up to six years from delivery in England, Wales and Northern Ireland (five years in Scotland). After the first six months, you may be asked to show that a fault was present at the time of delivery.

One rule that never changes

This policy is designed to give you more than the legal minimum, never less. Nothing on this page removes, limits or delays any right you already hold under UK consumer protection law.

Your legal protection

The Consumer Rights Act 2015, explained for our products.

Because we sell exclusively to customers in the United Kingdom, your purchase is governed by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Under this Act, everything we sell must be as described, of satisfactory quality, and fit for purpose — and "satisfactory quality" includes an expectation that footwear, dresses and linen garments remain durable for a reasonable period given their price, materials and normal use. This durability expectation is separate from, and sits alongside, the specific warranty periods above.

The Act gives you a structured set of remedies depending on when a fault appears. We summarise the framework in the table alongside, and apply it in full whenever a UK customer reports a defect, regardless of whether our own warranty period has technically expired.

Making a claim

How to submit a warranty claim, step by step.

1

Contact us with your order details

Email contact@selenalondon.com or call +33 7 54 00 67 18 with your order number, the item name, and a short description of the fault. We reply within 24 hours on business days.

2

Send clear photographs (and video for footwear soles)

Two or three well-lit photographs of the defect, plus a photograph of the item's care label, let us assess most claims without needing the item returned first.

3

We assess the claim

Our team reviews the evidence against the manufacturing standard set for that product line and confirms, within 3 business days, whether the fault is covered under this warranty.

4

We agree a resolution with you

Depending on the item and the fault, we offer a repair, a replacement of the same or an equivalent item, or a refund. Where we ask you to post the item back, we provide a free return label and cover the postage cost.

5

We complete the resolution

Replacements are dispatched within 5 business days of the item being confirmed faulty. Refunds are issued to your original payment method within 10 business days of that confirmation.

Evidence & resolution

What we need from you, and what you can expect from us.

Proof of purchase

We accept your order confirmation email, order number, or the payment record showing your purchase from Selenalondon. You do not need to keep a paper receipt — our order history is sufficient on its own.

Compensation procedure

Confirmed defects are resolved by repair or replacement wherever practical; if neither is possible, disproportionate, or has already been attempted without success, we move to a refund or a fair price reduction, following the order of remedies set out in the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Repair

Where a defect can be fixed without affecting the item's appearance or function, we arrange a repair through our fulfilment partner at no cost to you.

Replacement

If repair is not practical, we send the same item in the same size, or an equivalent style of the same or higher value if the original is no longer available.

Refund or price reduction

Where repair and replacement are not appropriate, we refund the purchase price in full, or apply a fair, proportionate price reduction where partial use has already been had of the item.

In detail

Care requirements, legal basis and everything else, spelled out

This warranty assumes the item has been used and cared for in line with its printed care label and any product-specific guidance shown on its listing. Reasonable care looks different for each category:

  • Sandals & footwear: wiping clean rather than machine washing, avoiding prolonged submersion in water, and allowing footwear to dry naturally away from direct heat.
  • Dresses: following the wash, dry and iron symbols on the care label, and avoiding contact with bleach or high heat unless the label permits it.
  • 3-Piece Linen Sets: washing on a gentle cycle at the temperature stated on the label, and expecting natural characteristics of linen, such as fine creasing and gradual softening, which are not defects.

Damage clearly caused by ignoring these instructions is treated as misuse rather than a manufacturing defect, and falls outside this warranty.

Section 9 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 requires goods to be of satisfactory quality, judged against what a reasonable person would consider satisfactory given the price, description and any relevant circumstances — and this includes an expectation of reasonable durability. For footwear priced and marketed for everyday wear, a reasonable person would not expect key components such as soles or fastenings to fail within months of ordinary use, which is why we set a 12-month workmanship warranty on sandals and footwear specifically.

If a fault appears within the first six months of delivery, the law presumes it was present at the point of delivery unless we can show otherwise. After six months, you may be asked for reasonable evidence, such as photographs, a description of how the fault developed, or the item itself, to support your claim.

Selenalondon is a trading name of JLA Marketing, a company registered in Paris, France under SIRET 834 721 094 00011. Because every sale we make is to a customer in the United Kingdom, UK consumer protection law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, governs your purchase and this warranty, and is the framework we apply when assessing every claim.

As a business established in France, JLA Marketing separately meets the transparency and commercial registration obligations of the French Commercial Code, and, in respect of goods sold within France, would also be subject to the legal guarantee of conformity under Articles L217-3 to L217-32 of the French Consumer Code and the guarantee against hidden defects under Articles 1641 to 1649 of the French Civil Code. These French guarantees exist for completeness and transparency about our legal footing; because our sales are made exclusively to UK addresses, it is the UK framework described above that determines how your individual claim is handled.

This warranty is available to the individual who placed the original order with Selenalondon, for items delivered to a United Kingdom address. It applies to the specific item purchased and is not transferable to a different item, order or recipient, and does not extend to items purchased second-hand or from any seller other than Selenalondon.

There is no charge to make a claim under this warranty. Where we need the item returned to assess or resolve a claim, we provide a prepaid return label, and you will not be asked to cover postage. Where a replacement is dispatched, standard shipping is free, in line with our usual Shipping Policy.

We may update this page as our catalogue, sourcing partners or applicable consumer protection rules evolve. The "Last updated" date shown in the hero above always reflects the current version, and any change that affects a claim already in progress will not reduce the protection you were entitled to when you made it.
