Privacy Opt-Out Request Form
Decide exactly how Selenalondon uses your data.
This page lets you switch off specific uses of your personal information — marketing messages, personalised advertising for sandals, dresses, footwear and linen sets, analytics cookies, or profiling — without needing to close your account or contact a lawyer. Submit the form below and we action it within 30 days, usually much sooner.
A dedicated, verifiable channel for privacy opt-out requests.
Selenalondon is the trading name of JLA Marketing, a French retailer that sells sandals, dresses, footwear and three-piece linen sets exclusively to customers in the United Kingdom. Because we hold and process personal data belonging to UK residents while being established in France, both UK GDPR and EU GDPR apply to how we handle your information, alongside the UK's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) for marketing and cookies.
Our main Privacy Policy explains, in general terms, what we collect and why. This page goes a step further: it is a standing, always-available request form that lets you tell us, category by category, which of those uses you want switched off — whether that is marketing emails, personalised advertising, analytics cookies, or profiling for product recommendations — without having to delete your account or stop shopping with us altogether.
We do not sell personal data to third parties, and we have never operated a data-sale programme of any kind. What this form controls is the more common set of activities that most online retailers carry out: marketing outreach, advertising cookies, and the use of your browsing and order history to personalise what you see. Each of the sections below explains exactly what an opt-out changes and what it does not.

What you can opt out of.
Marketing messages
Emails and any SMS or app alerts telling you about new sandal, dress, footwear or linen-set arrivals, promotions, or restocks. Turning this off stops future marketing sends; order confirmations and delivery updates continue regardless, since they are not marketing.
Legal basis: consent / legitimate interest, PECRPersonalised advertising
Cookies and pixels used to show you Selenalondon adverts for items you have viewed — for example a dress you browsed followed up with a retargeted ad on another site. Opting out stops this personalisation; you may still see our adverts, just not tailored to your browsing.
Legal basis: consent (cookie banner)Analytics & performance cookies
Cookies that tell us which sandals, dresses, footwear or linen sets are viewed most, where visitors drop off, and how our site performs. Opting out means your visits stop contributing to these aggregate reports; strictly necessary cookies needed to run checkout are unaffected.
Legal basis: consent (cookie banner)Profiling for recommendations
The use of your past views and purchases to suggest, for instance, footwear that pairs with a dress you bought. Opting out means recommendations you see revert to general bestsellers rather than ones based on your individual history.
Legal basis: legitimate interest, objectable under Art. 21What an opt-out changes, and what it can't.
We want this form to be genuinely useful rather than a symbolic gesture, so we are direct about its limits. Some processing keeps your order moving and cannot be paused while that order is active — for example, sharing your delivery address with the courier bringing your parcel from France, or sharing payment details with our payment processor to complete the transaction. These activities are necessary for the performance of our contract with you under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, and switching them off mid-order would mean we could no longer deliver what you've bought.
You can always switch off
- Marketing emails, SMS and app notifications
- Personalised advertising and retargeting cookies
- Analytics and performance cookies
- Profiling used for personalised recommendations
Continues regardless, while active
- Address and contact sharing with our courier for a live order
- Payment data sharing with our payment processor
- Fraud prevention and account security checks
- Records kept to meet French and UK tax and accounting law

As the data controller established in France
JLA Marketing is registered in Paris under SIRET 834 721 094 00011 and, as a company established in the EU, is bound by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés), supervised in France by the CNIL (Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés). These frameworks require us to process personal data lawfully, transparently and only for the purposes we disclose, and to act on a valid opt-out or objection without undue delay.
As a business trading with UK residents
Because we sell only to the United Kingdom, the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018 apply to our processing of your data by virtue of their extraterritorial scope, and are supervised by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) additionally govern marketing emails, SMS, and the cookies used for analytics and advertising — which is why consent and a clear opt-out route, such as this form, are required for those specific activities.
Everything else, spelled out
An opt-out is an instruction from you that stops a specific, named use of your personal data going forward. It is narrower than closing your account and narrower than a full erasure request: you can, for instance, stay a customer, keep your order history, and still switch off marketing emails or personalised advertising alone. If you would prefer a broader step — deleting your account entirely, or requesting erasure of all data we hold — you can say so in the "additional details" field of the form below, or contact us directly using the details at the foot of this page.
Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link, which is the fastest way to stop that channel immediately. Using the form below has the same effect and also lets you tell us if you want SMS or app notifications switched off at the same time, or only email. Once actioned, you will stop receiving promotional content about sandals, dresses, footwear or linen sets; transactional messages relating to an order you have already placed — confirmations, shipping notices, and responses to support queries — are not marketing and will still reach you.
Selenalondon uses cookies for three broad purposes: keeping the site and checkout working (strictly necessary, never optional), measuring how the site is used (analytics), and showing you advertising based on items you have browsed (personalised advertising). You can manage the second and third categories at any time through the cookie preference banner shown on your first visit, or by clearing your browser's cookies, in addition to requesting an opt-out here. Submitting this form records your preference against your account or email address so it is honoured across future visits and devices where you are logged in.
We use your browsing and order history to suggest products — for example, footwear that complements a dress you previously bought. Under Article 21 GDPR, you have an absolute right to object to profiling carried out for direct-marketing purposes, and we will stop it as soon as we receive a valid request with no need for you to justify why. Where profiling supports a purpose other than marketing, such as basic stock-level relevance, we will explain the specific purpose to you in our response and switch it off unless we can show compelling legitimate grounds to continue, as GDPR requires.
We work with a small number of categories of processor: our ecommerce platform (Shopify), payment processors, courier and fulfilment partners, customer support tools, analytics providers, and advertising partners. Opting out of marketing or advertising through this form stops your data being used by our marketing and advertising partners for that purpose; it does not remove the underlying data-sharing with Shopify, payment processors or couriers that is necessary to run the store and deliver orders already placed, as those relationships are contractual rather than marketing-based. Full detail on each category is set out in our Privacy Policy.
To stop someone else opting out of your marketing or changing your preferences without your knowledge, we may ask you to confirm the email address or order number associated with your account before we make a change. This check is kept proportionate: for a straightforward marketing opt-out, confirming your account email is normally enough; for a request that touches broader data rights, we may ask for a little more to confirm you are who you say you are, in line with our obligations under Article 12 GDPR.
We aim to action most opt-out requests within a few business days, and in every case within 30 calendar days as required by Article 12(3) GDPR. If a request is unusually complex, we may extend this by a further two months, and we will tell you why within the first 30 days if that happens. Once actioned, we send a confirmation email summarising exactly what has changed, so you have a written record of what you asked for and what we did.
Opting out sits alongside a wider set of rights you hold under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, including the right to access a copy of the data we hold about you, the right to have inaccurate data corrected, the right to request erasure ("the right to be forgotten"), the right to restrict how we use your data while a dispute is resolved, and the right to receive your data in a portable format. You can raise any of these using the same contact details at the foot of this page; we treat the form below as a fast lane for opt-outs specifically, not the only way to reach us.
We hope to resolve every request directly, and encourage you to come back to us first if something isn't right. If you remain unsatisfied, UK residents can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, and residents of France or the EU can complain to the CNIL at cnil.fr. Both regulators accept complaints free of charge.
We may update this page as our marketing tools, advertising partners, or applicable data protection rules evolve. The "Last updated" date shown in the hero above always reflects the current version, and material changes will be reflected here.
